Back to the Future Filming Locations part 1

the house in the pines

It's actually a grassy quad behind the main building, on the east sideof the campus. In the movie, they just parked the cars on the grass and the wide sidewalks to give theillusion of a parking lot. In the film, Doc Brown loses his family mansion building the time machine, and it’s too bad. He lives in Pasadena’s Gamble House, one of the most celebrated works of architecture on the West Coast.

Editorial Reviews

Everyone in 1950s Hill Valley evidently lives in a stunning two-story Craftsman. George and Lorraine’s childhood homes can be found in real life on the very same street in South Pasadena. Who could foresee this pet project becoming a 500K-follower Instagram account? She wasn't even interested in design, let alone earning a living as a home content creator.

The Last Time I Lied

Families can enjoy camp tours, wagon rides, toasting marshmallows, zipline rides and archery, win door prizes and meet the camp’s staff. A complimentary barbecue lunch with hot Dutch oven biscuits and shaved ice will be served. Scenes inside Doc’s house were shot at the Blacker House, another Arts and Crafts mansion designed by brothers Charles and Henry Greene (who also built the Gamble House).

When everyone blamed Maya’s accusations on a grief-induced psychosis, Maya was prescribed the addictive anti-anxiety drug Klonopin. This debut thriller by Ana Reyes is a compelling narrative about the subtlety of memory and manipulation. It packs secrets upon secrets and will keep the pages turning. I spent all Super Bowl Sunday reading this book and instead, I wished I actually watched the game.

She admits that she’s going through Klonopin withdrawal. In the past, Frank calls Maya as she’s packing for college. She says she doesn’t think they should see each other and he asks for Aubrey’s number. Maya says she’ll ask Aubrey if that’s okay, and Frank accuses her of being jealous. I feel like he is the only one who might understand all this.

Naturally, we are back at UniversalStudios, on the Courthouse Square set. Having received a phone call from 'Doc Brown'(Christopher Lloyd), asking him to meet him at night at the "Twin Pines Mall", 'Marty' shows up there and is introduced to Doc's time-traveling DeLorean... And below is a 2009 shot of the same house, from Steve. You can see those actual gates on displayduring the Universal Studios tramtour. In the real world, Marty's home street  isa long way from both Whittier & Burbank.

Plus, while many of the same classic camp foods continue to be served, the kitchen staff is willing and able to accommodate any child’s dietary needs or restrictions. Unlike back in 1941, today’s cooks regularly prepare foods for campers who are vegan, gluten-free, and lactose-intolerant. Friendly Pines Camp in Prescott will host an open house from 11 a.m.

Puente Hills Mall

Here’s where Marty meets up with Doc and, after a shootout over stolen plutonium, travels back in time to 1955 in the film’s now-iconic DeLorean. Upon arrival in the 1950s, he runs over one of the two pines on Mr. Peabody’s ranch, which somehow does not cause any horrible ripple effect. It just changes the mall’s name from Twin Pines to Lone Pine. HisDad's house (below) is located just to the north, at 1711Bushnell Ave. HisMom's house (above) is located at 1727Bushnell Ave., in South Pasadena.

About Ana Reyes

I have to admit, I don’t really mind suspending belief now and again for the sake of entertainment—but I thought it worked. I do understand this book is not everyone’s cup of tea, and I found many problems with it. This was a fun debut thriller with an intriguing premise. I’m always a sucker for an unreliable narrator, and Ana Reyes does such a good job with Maya’s point of view. The book isn’t compelling or believable as a thriller, but the author has potential in other directions. Ana Reyes is the New York Times bestselling author of Reese’s Book Club pick The House in the Pines.

Maya was a high school senior when her best friend, Aubrey, mysteriously dropped dead in front of the older man named Frank whom they’d been spending time with all summer. After the tragedy, Maya drowns herself in alcohol and drugs to numb the pain. At first, the story felt disjointed, and I wasn’t really sure what Maya’s father’s book had to do with the story at all.

His mom turns out to be far less naive than Marty had thought, and thebully Biff ends up locking Marty in the trunk of a car. Fortunately, his dad shows up andactually rescues his mom from Biff, insuring their future union. These scenes were also shot at Whittier High (12417E. Philadelphia Street, in Whittier),but not in the parking lot. They were filmed at a part of the school wehaven't seen before. To get back to 1985, Marty has to back up the DeLorean all the way to Griffith Park in order to get up to 88 mph by the time he hits Courthouse Square. The street lamp he parks in front of is across from the Greek Theatre parking lot.
